I have a formal coming up this week and in traditional "me" fashion, I completely forgot all about the date AND haven't bought a dress to wear. (It's not my formal, it's for a friend, so I didn't want to spend more than $100 on a dress...) So I called up my friend Tilly, aka Rarity, and we wooshed down to the fabric store and picked up some Swarovski Crystals and some pretty navy blue dress fabric.
We're using a retro Butterick patten and altering the skirt length, cause I like my skirts short! It's a really handy pattern though, because you make the one dress and you can style it 4 different ways.
We wanted to make a mock up first though because I use a combination of a size 6 and a size 8. (I'm a weird shape) Luckily Tilly had some awesome pink rainbow striped fabric that she wasn't planning on using for anything so we decided to use that. It turned out so well that we decided we'd finish making the mock up dress as well as the formal dress!

We worked into the wee hours of the morning, well Tilly worked while I moped around because of my infected tooth... but more on that later.
Eventually we called it quits and decided to continue the next day. I'll keep all updated on the dress and how the formal goes!
While we were at Spotlight we decided to grab a few quick outfit snaps, it's super cold here at the moment so you really need to rug up, otherwise you'll freeze your little butt off.
